    The IETF 126 meeting was held 18–24 July 2026 at the Hilton Vienna Park in Vienna, Austria, and online, hosted by Cisco. The week included the IETF Hackathon and Code Sprint, the New Participants' Program, five Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions, and more than 100 working group and research group sessions. The Applied Network Research Workshop also took place during the IETF 126 meeting week.

  • IETF email infrastructure transition planned for 11 September

    A transition to a new modern, modular, and containerized infrastructure for email services provided for ietf.org, iab.org, irtf.org, rfc-editor.org (including email lists) is scheduled for 11 September 2026 starting at 2200UTC, with message delivery delayed up to 60 minutes. Further updates will be provided closer to the transition.

  • Post-Quantum Authentication: Up Next

    Post-quantum key establishment has moved from standards into deployment. Post-quantum authentication has not moved nearly as far, and specification work is no longer the only constraint. The IAB is holding a workshop in Prague on 11 and 12 October 2026 to bring deployment experience together with the people working on the relevant protocols and standards.

Verisign Commits to Support the Work of the Internet Engineering Task Force as an IETF Global Host

Verisign has committed to be an IETF Global Host through 2030.

Sustaining partnerships with IETF Global Hosts ensure the continuity of the IETF as a unique, neutral venue for developing the technical foundations for the global Internet. In particular, Global Hosts provide critical support for IETF Meetings, which provide essential spaces for collaboration that allow the IETF to work smarter and faster. 

“I am very pleased that Verisign, a long-time leader in workings of the global domain name system, has chosen to become an IETF Global Host,” said Roman Danyliw, IETF Chair. “Their commitment at this high level to the continued success of the IETF community is a signal of the important role the IETF plays to improve and evolve a wide range of core Internet functions that serve billions of users around the world.”

Just as Verisign plays a critical yet mostly invisible role in helping maintain the security, stability, and resiliency of the Internet’s Domain Name System at the core of the Internet, the technical standards developed in the IETF form the foundation for online services and capabilities used by billions of people around the world every day.
